Argentina's mid-term elections (Class work)
Bias in texts. (Class Work)
A)
Read the description given to your group (here you have a mini dictionary to make your work easier MINI DICTIONARY)
and do the following activities:
1. Read the description of Jake’s uncle. Look up words you are not sure about.
2. Do you like or dislike him?
3. Underline words that describe the uncle.
4. Discuss for each word underlined whether it means something positive or negative. Put 😊 for positive, 😒 for negative and 😐 for neutral (neither positive nor negative) above the word.
5. Draw a picture of Jake’s uncle. One of you draws the picture and everybody helps to make the drawing look like the description in words.
6. Decide which of the two sentences would be best to finish the paragraph:
a) Everyone has great respect for him.
b) Everyone shuns him.
A description of Jake’s uncle
Jake’s uncle is tall and slim. He has a receding hairline and when the light sparkles on his forehead, he looks distinguished. His pale face always has a sincere expression. He dresses informally in well-worn jeans and comfy jumpers.
B)

Jake’s uncle is lanky and skinny. He is going bald and when the sweat glistens on his forehead, he looks unkempt. His ashen face always has a gloomy expression. He dresses untidily in old jeans and tatty jumpers.
